Hi, I’m Xiao and I’m a writer.
About
Long story short, I was born in China and grew up in the UK. After graduating SOAS in Art and Archaeology, I finally realised I actually didn’t want to be an archaeologist and decided to pursue my dream of being a writer, combining it with a love of film.
I attended London Film School's MA Screenwriting programme where I earned a Distinction for my final script. Shortly after, I worked with independent production companies including Wildgaze Films and Urban Myth Films, while also script reading for Protagonist Pictures.
I am signed with Casarotto Ramsay & Associates, represented by Ellen Gallagher, and was selected for the BEATS 2020 mentoring programme (British East Asians in Theatre and On Screen, backed by ScreenSkills and BFI).
My work ranges from sci-fi to horror to comedy, and I love setting relationship drama against genre landscapes.
In 2018, producer Joe Jeffreys and I set up Bad Day Films, focused on making gripping, distinctive short genre films.
